An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Acute Tobacco Dependence Treatment Team as a Tobacco Dependence Treatment Specialist. You will work as part of a small, experienced team delivering tobacco dependence treatment across two hospital sites. Your role will involve developing and delivering services aligned with the NHS Long Term Plan for tobacco control, including ward-based interventions, outpatient clinics, and multidisciplinary team training. This position supports the Trust’s commitment to prevention and optimising physical health and wellbeing.
You will be responsible for supporting Trust initiatives such as the Long Term Plan (LTP) and Vital 5 programmes, ensuring staff in clinical areas are trained in very brief advice (VBA), monitoring ward compliance with tobacco dependence care, and providing clinical interventions for withdrawal management and smoking cessation. You will also manage outpatient clinics, contribute to service development, and promote seamless care pathways across acute, community, and primary care settings.

Experience
- Minimum two years’ experience working within Tobacco Dependence Treatment or a patient-facing clinical role in an acute setting delivering one-to-one interventions.
- Experience working on target-driven programmes such as the Long Term Plan.
- Caseload management experience.
- Experience developing and delivering training for health professionals.
- Experience setting up Tobacco Dependence Treatment Clinics.
- Experience with audit and evaluation.
- Desirable: Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in an acute setting.
- Desirable: Skills in using acute systems such as EPIC and PIMS.

Qualifications
- Educated to degree level.
- Accredited Stop Smoking Practitioner Training (Level 2) by the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training.
- Desirable: Independent Prescriber qualification.
- Desirable: Postgraduate qualification in a health-related area.
