St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital. Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions. Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients. In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Job overview Are you passionate about embedding clinical research in our services at GSTT and empowering our teams to deliver high quality research for the benefit of our patients and communities? Are you an experienced and enthusiastic strategically minded clinical research leader? If so, then this opportunity may be perfect for you! Due to changes in the team a fixed term opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic research manager to provide management support in the Transplant, Research and Urology directorate. The post holder will support the R&D lead and research team to deliver on a broad portfolio of commercial and non-commercial research. The position is part time (37.5 hours per week) and is 6 months fixed-term contract. Tentative interview date is 14th November 2023 Main duties of the job Duties include: Leading and managing the research performance and business planning in TRU. Oversight of research studies and clinical trial activity – including delivery to time and target for both commercial and non commercial studies - the Day to day management and support of the directorate research delivery teams, education and development of junior research staff and ensuring adequate support is provided to investigators and their teams. The post holder will work closely with the Head of Research Workforce and R&D Lead to oversee and develop a well-balanced clinical trial and research study portfolio, plan an efficient and managed workforce, ensure achievement of all key performance indicators related to the Trust/NIHR research objectives. The successful applicant will have experience in clinical research, change management and service delivery. Previous line management and budgetary management experience is essential. The post holder will provide research management support in Transplant , Renal and Urology and leadership to research delivery team in line with the R&D strategic framework Person specification Experience Essential criteria Significant experience of clinical research management, to include experience in the planning, coordination and conducting of clinical research studies or the management of clinical research.
