About the Role
Are you ready to take the next step in your building surveying career? As an Assistant Building Surveyor at Peabody, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality voids management across your local area. You will work closely with the Repairs Team, regional offices, contractors, and wider Property Services colleagues to provide a seamless, customer-focused service. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and progress towards a Building Surveyor role while making a real difference to residents’ homes and wellbeing.

You will join the Operations Directorate within Repairs Operations, a key priority for Peabody. This team is central to delivering safe, well-maintained homes and ensuring residents receive a responsive, high-quality service. Repairs Operations is critical to Peabody’s mission: protecting homes, improving living standards, and driving efficiency across the property portfolio. By managing voids and repairs effectively, you will help create sustainable communities and deliver on the promise to get things right the first time.

Key responsibilities include taking full ownership of assigned void cases from start to finish, ensuring quality, compliance, and value for money; providing expert technical advice; managing contractor performance; carrying out site inspections and surveys; supporting resident surgeries when required; participating in an out-of-hours rota for emergencies; and driving improvements to deliver practical, efficient solutions that get it right the first time.

Requirements

Experience
Housing knowledge or experience, ideally from a local authority, council, or housing association environment. Understanding of property portfolios and repairs, including Schedule of Rates and value-for-money principles.

About you
Strong organisational and IT skills to manage cases and monitor budgets. Excellent communication and report-writing skills with an eye for detail. Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and deliver under pressure. Accountable and customer-focused professional with a passion for delivering excellent building services.

Qualifications
A technical qualification such as a Degree, HND, or HNC is desirable but not essential; your housing experience matters most.
