About the Role
Make a meaningful impact on residents’ homes, safety and wellbeing by joining Peabody Trust as an experienced and highly organised Building Surveyor (Legal Disrepair). You will lead the technical delivery of disrepair casework across our homes, ensuring residents receive a timely, high-quality and customer-focused service. This role involves taking ownership of legal disrepair cases from initial inspection through to completion, including accurate diagnosis, robust evidence gathering, clear reporting and high-quality contractor delivery. You will visit resident properties to diagnose defects, gather evidence, take photographs, record access attempts and fully document findings. You will produce accurate, high-quality reports and detailed schedules of work within one week of inspection, prepare specifications, cost estimates and technical documentation using the national Schedule of Rates, and manage contractors to ensure quality, value for money, compliance with KPIs and timely delivery of works. Additionally, you will carry out post-inspections and sign-off works, maintain excellent customer communication, provide technical advice to colleagues and stakeholders, and keep accurate case records. Working collaboratively across operational teams, you will help improve service delivery and outcomes for residents. Site visits are typically completed on one day with report writing the following day to ensure a maximum one-week turnaround.
