About the Role
Make a meaningful impact on residents’ homes, safety and wellbeing by joining Peabody’s regional Repairs Team as a Building Surveyor (Disrepair). You will lead the technical delivery of legal disrepair casework across our homes, ensuring residents receive a timely, high-quality and customer-focused service. This role involves end-to-end management of legal disrepair cases from initial inspection through to completion, including accurate diagnosis, robust evidence gathering, clear reporting, and ensuring high-quality contractor delivery. You will visit resident properties to diagnose defects, gather evidence, take photographs, record access attempts, and fully document findings. You will produce accurate, high-quality reports and detailed schedules of work within one week of inspection, prepare specifications and cost estimates using the national Schedule of Rates, and manage contractors to ensure quality, value for money, compliance with KPIs and timely delivery of works. Post-inspections and sign-off of works will be carried out to ensure all remedial actions meet standards. Maintaining excellent customer communication and managing expectations throughout the investigation and repair process is essential. You will also provide technical advice to colleagues, partners and stakeholders, support evidence requirements for legal proceedings, keep accurate case records, update systems, and demonstrate attempts made where access is denied. Collaboration across operational teams to improve service delivery and outcomes for residents is a key part of this role. Site visits are typically completed on one day with report writing the following day to ensure a maximum one-week turnaround.
