An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Assistant Service Manager within the Radiology Department to support the delivery of Radiology Services. This role is ideal for an experienced team leader looking to manage a busy outpatient department and oversee multiple Radiology service areas.
The successful candidate will be proactive, flexible, and possess strong problem-solving skills to resolve issues within outpatient areas. Experience as an Assistant Service Manager is advantageous but not essential for motivated candidates seeking a new challenge.
You will work closely with the Service Manager to deliver operational targets, monitor performance, and directly line manage a team of administrators. Key responsibilities include PTL validation, responding to patient concerns, conducting team meetings, managing data quality and performance reporting, and participating in service improvement initiatives.
This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across a multi-professional team, adapting to an evolving service to ensure continuous delivery of high-quality patient care.
Experience
- Significant experience in staff supervision and management including recruitment, retention, appraisal, and first line disciplinary processes
- Experience managing a busy outpatient referral bookings team
- Knowledge of budget management issues
- Experience in PTL validation is essential
- Understanding of National Cancer Waiting Targets is desirable
- Experience of delivering services on a multi-site basis is advantageous
