About the Role
Brent Council is seeking a Business Support Officer to join the Children’s Social Care Services. Brent is a vibrant London borough known for its diversity and dynamic community. This role involves providing essential administrative support to specialist teams within Children’s Social Care, including minute taking at meetings such as strategy meetings, ensuring robust tracking of statutory panels and meetings, updating systems, maintaining accurate records and folders, and uploading partner checks and documentation to MOSAIC. You will act as the first point of contact within the relevant teams, maintain professional communications with internal and external customers and partners, and engage effectively with multi-agency stakeholders. Responsibilities also include managing all email, post, and telephone queries appropriately and taking ownership of the business support needs of the allocated service area, demonstrating expert knowledge of their business processes. This role plays a vital part in supporting the administrative needs of the Children and Young People and Community Development department.

Why Join Us?
At Brent, we value our people and offer up to 33 days annual leave (depending on length of service) plus bank holidays, an excellent pension scheme with generous employer contributions (LGPS), hybrid and flexible working options, supportive family-friendly policies, health and wellbeing support including eye test support and a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, financial support such as education sessions, childcare deposit loans, and season ticket loans, travel perks including affordable parking, a Cycle to Work scheme, and great onsite facilities. We also provide learning and development opportunities to help you grow your career and access to My Brent Rewards with exclusive discounts on shopping, travel, leisure, and entertainment.

Additional Information
Applications must include a supporting statement demonstrating how you meet the essential requirements. Brent Council is committed to diversity and encourages applications from all sections of the community. The role requires an Enhanced DBS check and other employment clearances due to working with children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Reasonable adjustments are available for candidates with disabilities throughout the recruitment process.

Requirements

Experience

You must be highly organised, able to manage your workload effectively, maintain attention to detail, and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines. Good IT skills and the ability to use multiple computer systems concurrently are required. You should be able to work on your own initiative and take a proactive approach.
