Brent is a vibrant London borough known for its diversity and unique community. Ade Adepitan Short Break Centre provides specialist residential services for children and young people up to 19 years old with profound and multiple learning difficulties, complex health needs, physical disabilities, and autistic spectrum disorders.
We offer safe, nurturing overnight short breaks where young people can rest, grow, and enjoy meaningful experiences that enhance their lives. As a Night Care Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring each child’s night is safe, positive, dignified, and person-centred.
As a professional member of the night team, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality care in line with Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Children’s Homes Quality Standards, and the service’s commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.
You will:
- Provide tailored physical and personal care throughout the night
- Carry out regular monitoring and keep accurate, high-quality records
- Support children with complex needs, including gastrostomy feeding, suctioning, or tracheostomy care (full training provided)
- Implement Care Plans, Risk Assessments, and Personal Evacuation Plans
- Work as shift lead when required, ensuring safety, structure, and continuity
- Create a calm, supportive environment where children feel safe, respected, and heard
- Liaise with out-of-hours services and contribute to CIN and person-centred reviews
Night staff provide continuous overnight support to children and young people, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and individual care needs are met throughout the shift.
Experience
- Experience supporting children and young people with disabilities and autism
- Skilled in delivering person-centred, holistic care
- Confident in using monitoring equipment and maintaining high-quality written records

- Warm, patient, and able to communicate sensitively with children and families
- Physically able to assist with moving, handling, and personal care
- Calm under pressure and able to work unsociable hours
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Positive, can-do mindset with a passion for empowering children and young people to thrive
Qualifications
- Qualified with a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or working towards it
