About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an insightful, creative and diligent Service Manager for Children in Need Social Care to lead our multi-agency team. You will take operational management responsibility for Children in Need and Child Protection services, ensuring delivery of high quality, inclusive services that are responsive to the needs of service users and the wider community, addressing the safeguarding needs of children and young people in Camden.
Camden is on a dynamic journey to implement the National Reform agenda, developing locality-based Family Help teams and the Multi Agency Child Protection Team. Your role will be key in managing the workforce through this period of change, demonstrating skilled leadership to drive and deliver high quality relational-based practice that ensures families receive proportionate, compassionate and skilled intervention from practitioners at all levels.
You will maintain high service and professional standards, manage resources effectively, and ensure delivery aligns with Council, Directorate and Service strategies, plans and policies. Compliance with relevant legislation and good practice standards set by the Council is essential.
As a member of the Children’s Safeguarding and Social Work Management Team, you will contribute to strategic planning, policy and practice development for Children’s Safeguarding & Social Work on behalf of the service, directorate and division. You will deputise for the Head of Service of Children In Need and provide management cover for other service managers and management roles as required.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and requires an Enhanced DBS check.
Experience
- Significant experience managing teams or services within children’s safeguarding and child protection.
- Proven ability to lead change and develop new services in partnership with internal and external agencies.
- In-depth knowledge of policies, statutory regulations and guidance relating to children’s safeguarding and child protection.

Qualifications
- Fully qualified, accredited social work professional (CQSW, Dip SW, BSc/MSc, BA/MA) with current SWE registration.
- Leadership/Management qualification (e.g. ILM Level 4 or 5) is essential.
