About the Role
As Principal Transport Planner (Liveable Neighbourhoods), you will lead the project management and delivery of two major initiatives: the Holborn Liveable Neighbourhood programme and the Better, Safer Kilburn scheme. The Holborn LN programme is an ambitious £55m project aimed at transforming the area into safe, healthy, accessible, and climate-resilient streets while enhancing public spaces and supporting local businesses and attractions such as the British Museum. Currently in feasibility, it is preparing for public consultation in Summer 2026. The Better, Safer Kilburn scheme is a £12m project focused on making the town centre safer and more attractive, improving air quality, encouraging walking and cycling, and creating a welcoming environment. This scheme is approved for delivery and entering implementation phases in partnership with neighbouring boroughs Brent and Westminster.
You will oversee design, consultation, and implementation phases of Healthy Streets schemes within these programmes, coordinating with internal departments and external partners including Transport for London. Your role includes community engagement to ensure inclusivity and effective outcomes, contributing to strategic initiatives such as urban greening and high street renewal. You will prepare high-quality reports, manage budgets, and maintain financial oversight while driving innovative solutions in a dynamic environment.
You will also line manage a Senior Transport Planner, supporting their delivery of Healthy Streets projects and personal development. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
