About the Role
Camden Council is seeking to appoint two dynamic Fostering & Permanence Social Workers to join our Fostering Team. In this role, you will undertake Kinship assessments and supervise, support, develop, train, evaluate, and review foster carers who provide placements for Children Looked After. This is a collaborative role combining kinship and supervising responsibilities, including participation in the Fostering Team’s duty rota several days each month. You will also have opportunities to contribute to team activities such as delivering support groups, the Skills to Foster program, and training for carers.

Our practice is grounded in Camden’s Relational Practice Framework, a relationship-based approach where strong, honest, and collaborative relationships between social workers, families, carers, and communities are central. Camden has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted, and we are committed to maintaining and innovating these high standards.

This is a permanent, full-time position offering the chance to join a thriving, dynamic service dedicated to making a positive difference for children and families. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and requires an Enhanced DBS check, with access to the DBS update service.

Requirements

Experience
Applicants must be fully qualified and accredited Social Workers with current Social Work England registration and a minimum of two years post-qualification experience. Experience working with kinship families and foster carers, including assessments, supervision, training, support, and review, is essential.

Knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Fostering Service Regulations 2011, National Minimum Standards, and other relevant legislation and guidance is required. Strong investigative and analytical skills, along with the ability to negotiate and manage conflict, hostility, and vulnerability, are paramount.

About you
We are looking for an experienced and exceptional social worker who is focused on achieving the best outcomes for young people. You should be responsible, able to work independently and collaboratively within a systemic approach, and positive about the development of the team and service. You will demonstrate curiosity, kindness, courage, honesty, and collaboration in your practice.
