About the Role
This is an exciting time for the London Borough of Redbridge, situated at the heart of regeneration and change in East London, with significant investment and new opportunities arising from Cross Rail. Our offices in Ilford benefit from excellent transport links, being only 9 minutes from Stratford and 18 minutes from Liverpool Street.
Our vision is Ambitious for Redbridge. To meet the diverse needs of our population, we have restructured the Community Health and Social Care Team and are recruiting for new and exciting roles.
The successful candidate will specialise in supporting people with dementia, physical and sensory disabilities, learning disabilities, and mental health needs. This includes developing community-based programmes based on community care assessments, person-centred plans, and risk assessments, ensuring delivery of effective, efficient, and value-for-money services.
You will consult with service users, carers, and families to create person-centred support plans and provide key working that promotes independence, health and wellbeing outcomes, community involvement, personal empowerment, and opportunities to try new activities.
Additionally, you will assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring activities within the service, including social, recreational, therapeutic, and educational programmes tailored to service users' needs.
The role includes escorting or driving duties to transport service users to and from home and activities or outings. A driving licence is advantageous.
You will assist service users, including those using wheelchairs and other aids, with safe movement around the day centre and when boarding or alighting vehicles.
Experience
Experience working with people with dementia, physical and sensory disabilities, learning disabilities, or mental health is desirable.
About you
Compassionate and person-centred with the ability to promote independence and wellbeing. You should be able to work effectively within a team and engage positively with service users, carers, and families. A driving licence is advantageous due to escorting and transport duties.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in health and social care are desirable but not essential. A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to work within the Council’s values and vision are important.
