About the Role
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform trusted by millions of companies worldwide, from large enterprises to ambitious startups. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, offering you a unique opportunity to impact the global economy while advancing your career.
You will join Stripe's Financial Crimes, Compliance and Risk Oversight (FinCRO) organisation as part of the Product and User Enablement (ProUse) team. This team acts as a trusted compliance advisor to first line business teams such as GTM, Risk, and Ops, helping to scale the business and grow our global user base.
In this role, you will be a strategic partner fluent in compliance regulations and commercial realities. You will embed compliance intelligence into Stripe’s technical infrastructure, moving away from manual, person-dependent models toward dynamic, agentic structures. You will provide expert guidance on complex user challenges and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to design user solutions that support growth while ensuring compliance rigor.
As Stripe operates at the intersection of technology and financial services, you will need to navigate both worlds effectively, moving quickly in ambiguous environments to support global business scaling.
Responsibilities
- Partner deeply with GTM and business teams on complex user deals to identify compliance roadblocks early and design compliant, risk-aligned paths forward.
- Lead compliance reviews and risk assessments for material user matters, providing clear, risk-based recommendations.
- Influence business roadmaps and design decisions by translating compliance requirements into actionable product, control, and reporting expectations.
- Apply first-principles thinking to novel user-related questions, helping teams identify practical and sustainable solutions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to explain complex compliance requirements with authority, clarity, and empathy.
- Collaborate with users and internal teams to architect solutions that meet compliance obligations while minimizing friction.
- Work closely with Regional Compliance Officers, Money Laundering Reporting Officers, Legal, and other SMEs to support complex, cross-functional user support designs.
- Help business teams build durable compliance capabilities by simplifying requirements, precedents, and standards to promote a “compliant by design” approach.
- Leverage AI and agentic tools to scale user enablement, accelerating risk assessments, regulatory research, and documentation while maintaining rigorous oversight of AI outputs.
Experience
- 9+ years building and managing compliance programs in regulated financial services, preferably fintech, payments, or banking.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and financial crimes/AML practices relevant to Stripe’s risk landscape.
- Proven ability to lead multiple complex projects independently from early ambiguity through implementation.
- Skilled at interpreting regulations, identifying underlying risks, and translating them into comprehensive, proportionate compliance programs.
- Experience evaluating complex user requests for compliance risk and collaborating with business stakeholders to enable users while meeting compliance requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex compliance concepts into clear, commercial language for diverse stakeholders.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, adept at navigating leadership and interpersonal relationships.
- Intellectual curiosity and comfort operating in unfamiliar markets, product types, and regulatory frameworks.
- Sound, independent judgment in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Genuine interest in financial product innovation and commitment to responsible product scaling.
- Demonstrated AI fluency, creativity, and judgment, with experience using AI to accelerate research, requirements mapping, and routine guidance while maintaining oversight.
About you
You are a strategic thinker and trusted advisor who thrives at the intersection of compliance and business enablement. You are comfortable working in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment and enjoy collaborating across teams to solve complex challenges. You have a passion for innovation and a commitment to building scalable, sustainable compliance solutions that empower users and support business growth.
Qualifications
- Preferred experience using AI or agentic tools in compliance or regulatory contexts such as policy drafting, risk assessments, regulatory research, or workflow automation.
- Experience with stablecoin, crypto, or emerging payments compliance is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as ACAMS, CRCM, ICA Diploma or Advanced Certificate, or equivalent are desirable.
