About the Role
The Development Associate supports the execution of the Company’s development platform by assisting in the capitalisation and delivery of developments throughout the entire development cycle. This role involves performing financial analyses of development opportunities and preparing documentation to facilitate underwriting and closing of real estate transactions. Key responsibilities include assisting with all stages of the development process from acquisition to planning, development, construction, leasing, and asset management, including financial analysis. The role supports monitoring, tracking, and reporting on development budgets and programmes, working closely with construction, operations, and finance teams. You will prepare high-quality monthly and quarterly reports and presentations for investors and senior stakeholders, support technical due diligence and underwriting processes, and manage external consultants to ensure designs are on programme and within budget. Maintaining ongoing communication within the development team and with external stakeholders is essential to provide updates on project progress, resolve issues, and respond promptly to inquiries. The role also involves collaborating with operations to finalise operating budgets and development assumptions, managing phased handovers with Estates Managers, and ensuring adherence to company development standards and quality levels. Additionally, you will develop and maintain relationships with local project management firms, construction companies, local authorities, and other key technical stakeholders. Other duties include completing various human resources, financial, administrative reports and analyses as required.

Requirements

Experience
- Development and project management experience on residential or mixed-use schemes
- Experience or exposure to large-scale phased development projects (desirable)
- Experience of securing planning consent and pre-construction phases of development (desirable)
- Knowledge of construction contracts, particularly JCT, and experience managing client actions

About you
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to analyse, write, and present reports and recommendations effectively
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships, communicate with tact and diplomacy, and influence at all levels
- Ability to build, lead, manage, and motivate project teams, supervise and monitor works by technical consultants, and negotiate and manage construction/technical agreements
- Strong numeracy skills, including managing cash flow information, financial records, budgets, and fiscal reporting
- A positive team player with an adaptable and flexible approach, able to work collaboratively to drive results and support wider business objectives

Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent (2:1 and above) in a related business or analytical subject such as finance, business management, real estate, or economics
- Member or working towards membership of the RICS (desirable)
- Working knowledge of building regulations, technical building specifications, planning application processes, and construction processes for London
- Knowledge of multifamily (build to rent), student, or related industry developments (desirable)
- IT literate and fully conversant with Microsoft Office packages including advanced PowerPoint and Excel
