36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Salary
Up to £66,000 per annum, depending on experience and skills, plus a £4,500 per annum car allowance.
About the Role
This is a fantastic career opportunity for someone with engineering project management experience to join a highly collaborative and supportive team within Thames Water's Capital Maintenance Projects. You will be responsible for delivering a large portfolio of capital projects, providing MEICA engineering construction solutions for wastewater, water production, waste, and water network functions, both above and below ground. You will develop innovative and cost-effective strategies that drive cultural change, business improvements, increased productivity, and embed commercial focus alongside corporate values and behaviours.
Key responsibilities include:
- Being an integral part of the growing Capital Maintenance Projects team.
- Managing procurement processes, framework suppliers, and the sub-contractor supply chain for site-based construction activities.
- Directly managing resource allocation, training, development, and support of Project Engineers.
- Providing estimating, programming, and planning support to the wider team.
- Ensuring 100% compliance with client specifications for all construction projects.
- Managing client site requirements to minimise impact on operational functionality.
- Delivering projects within legislative, CDM, regulatory, Health & Safety, Environmental, and HR requirements.
Experience
Proven track record in project management within an engineering environment, with good working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and ICA systems of work. Experience in commercial and technical roles is essential, ideally supported by a degree or HND in engineering and/or business administration, with post-qualification experience. Understanding of basic civil engineering works, contract law, planning, estimating, and tendering is required. Experience managing procurement processes, framework suppliers, and sub-contractor supply chains is necessary.
Management experience including resource management, training, development, and support of staff, with responsibility for up to 10 direct reports and managing key internal and external stakeholder interfaces.

Commercially astute and motivated individual with strong leadership skills. Able to ensure delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to client specifications while maintaining high standards of health and safety and regulatory compliance. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential to manage multiple projects and teams effectively.
Qualifications
Degree or HND in engineering and/or business administration is preferred. Relevant post-qualification experience in engineering project management is highly desirable.
