About the Role
Have you ever wondered what it takes to deliver safe, high-quality drinking water to millions of customers every day? As a Process Scientist Industrial Placement at Thames Water, you'll gain hands-on experience helping to protect water quality from source to tap while working alongside experienced scientists on real-life operational challenges. During your placement year, you will be involved in water quality monitoring from the source to service reservoir, investigating water quality failures and events at company assets, and raising issues on the Drinking Water Safety Plan (DWSP). You will provide recommendations to internal and external departments to prevent future failures, offer technical support to Production and Capital Delivery schemes to ensure water quality requirements are met, and support internal water treatment works audits and end-to-end treatment reviews. You will represent Thames Water in meetings with stakeholders to build awareness and maintain the company’s reputation. Additionally, you will undertake out-of-hours technical support on a one-in-six rota with appropriate training provided. This placement offers a unique opportunity to work on real investigations, contribute to water quality improvements, collaborate with operational teams, and gain insight into how one of the UK's largest water companies delivers safe drinking water every day.

About you
You should be someone who likes sharing ideas, asking questions, and contributing as part of a supportive and diverse team. A full driving licence, access to your own vehicle, and business travel insurance are required due to travel across the Thames Valley Region.

Qualifications
Degree (or equivalent/working towards) in a Scientific or Engineering discipline.
