Your Role Service Line: Psychiatric Intensive Care Services Summary of the site: Tyler Ward is a male psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) with 14 beds and a seclusion suite. The service focuses on independent living skills, coping strategies and social inclusion. We provide activities within the Core Occupational Therapy Pathways of Self-Care, Physical Health, Community Re-ablement, Hobbies & Interests and Education/Vocation. As an Occupational Therapy Assistant the role involves planning and implementing activities as a therapeutic medium under the guidance of the Deputy Head Occupational Therapist who is based on Tyler Ward. You will also be supported by the wider Occupational Therapy Team based at Blackheath and Lewisham. The post holder will be offered support and guidance to utilise standardised assessments and implement structured groups. In this role you will work within an MDT (which consists of Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Medical and Social Work) to support recovery and rehabilitation for service users on Meridian Ward. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development. Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.
