About Camden
Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today and we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.
About the Team/Service
We know that domestic abuse will affect one in four women during their lifetime and that this figure is likely to be much higher. Currently, three women a week are killed by a former or current partner. Domestic abuse and violence against women and girls (VAWG) are some of the most pressing social issues of our time. In Camden, we believe that everyone has the right to be safe and abusive behaviour should always be addressed. We are committed to supporting survivors and tackling perpetrator behaviour across all our services, but we need help to do it.
What You’ll Be Doing / How You’ll Be Involved
We are seeking four experienced practitioners to join Camden’s new Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Intervention Team. The postholders will play a central role in the mobilisation and implementation of an in-house Perpetrator programme. The main objective for the posts is to reduce risk of harm to adult and child victim/survivors by intervening to stop perpetrators from offending and providing support to those motivated to change. Each intervention worker will carry a caseload, directly engaging adult domestic abuse perpetrators in 1:1 Early Response and Behaviour Change Interventions. Working in partnership with Camden’s in-house services for victim/survivors, the postholders will play an integral part in managing/reducing risk through multi-agency, survivor-led assessment and intervention.
Additional Information
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS. Please note Camden also offers the DBS update service.
Experience
Previous demonstrable experience working directly with domestic abuse perpetrators as part of a risk/survivor led response to VAWG and gender-based violence.
About You
You will have an excellent understanding of coercive control, patterns of perpetrator behaviour, and the impact of domestic abuse on adult and child survivors. Additionally, you’ll be adept at creating and maintaining up-to-date case records, ensuring any new information relevant to risk is promptly shared with the right people.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are mentioned, but relevant experience and understanding of domestic abuse issues are essential.
What We Offer
At Camden, you’ll receive a host of benefits including:
- 27 days annual leave for new starters, rising to 31 days after 5 years
- Local Government Pension Scheme
- Flexible working opportunities
- Interest-free loans
- Access to our incredible staff networks
- Career development and training
- Wellbeing support and activities
