About the Role
Are you an experienced, confident Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) ready for a senior practice role that focuses on leadership, expert decision-making, and mentoring colleagues? Within our Integrated Mental Health Service (IMHS), you will play a vital statutory role ensuring residents receive timely, safe, and legally compliant interventions under the Mental Health Act.
As a Senior AMHP, you will provide leadership, expert practice support, and oversight from the AMHP Desk. Working closely with the AMHP Team Manager, you will drive quality and confidence within the service.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a senior decision-maker in complex or high-risk situations to ensure safe, proportionate, and legally literate outcomes
- Providing day-to-day guidance and support to AMHP colleagues carrying out Mental Health Act assessments
- Contributing to the allocation and coordination of referrals through the AMHP Desk
- Delivering reflective supervision and mentoring to build resilience and professional confidence in AMHPs
- Monitoring adherence to statutory responsibilities and contributing to quality assurance, audit, and continuous service improvement

Experience
Substantial post-qualification experience as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner. Proven ability to work in complex, high-pressure situations and make proportionate decisions. Experience in providing leadership, mentoring, and supervision within a mental health setting.

Qualifications
A recognised social work qualification with current registration with Social Work England. Current approval as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP). Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Care Act.
