About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen within the London Borough of Redbridge for an experienced Senior Employment Lawyer to join the Council and provide a comprehensive and professional legal service in employment law. Reporting to the Principal Lawyer – Litigation within the Legal Department, you will advise internal departments and represent the organisation in Employment Tribunals.

You will provide expert advice and guidance on employment law specifically in the context of the public sector and maintained schools. Your role will involve managing a complex and varied caseload, including both contentious and non-contentious matters, and preparing relevant legal documents. You will also have responsibility for managing an Employment Lawyer.

Your expertise will be crucial in delivering practical assistance and legal support on employment law issues related to local government and satellite bodies, ensuring the Council’s compliance and effective handling of Employment Tribunal claims.

Experience
- Proven experience in employment law, preferably within a local government context
- Extensive knowledge of employment law and practice
- Experience managing a wide and varied workload of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters with minimal supervision
- Experience in conducting Employment Tribunal claims and preparing relevant documentation

Qualifications
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX or equivalent legal qualification
