About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing specialist care across a wide range of services including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory, and cardiovascular care. In February 2021, the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals joined the Trust, creating a world-renowned centre for heart and lung disease treatment and research.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic trainee to join our Clinical Perfusion team at Royal Brompton Hospital. This two-year clinical training programme will equip you with the skills to deliver a wide range of perfusion techniques under direct supervision. Training includes study towards an MSc in Clinical Perfusion at Bristol University, subject to eligibility and enrolment.

Upon successful completion of the MSc and clinical training, you will undertake the Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientists practical exam, leading to professional accreditation and registration. Successful candidates will be promoted to Agenda for Change Band 7.

As part of a dynamic team, you will provide extracorporeal circulation support to patients undergoing cardiac surgery, working primarily at Royal Brompton Hospital but potentially rotating across other Trust sites. The role involves preparation and management of cardiopulmonary bypass circuits, blood conservation, ECMO support, and adherence to strict safety and quality assurance protocols.

Our vision is to be a leading national and international centre for heart and lung disease, combining clinical excellence, pioneering research, and outstanding patient care. We are committed to supporting our staff with development opportunities and flexible working arrangements to promote a healthy work-life balance.
