About the Role
The Transformation Division plays a pivotal role in translating business strategy into high-impact programmes that drive growth, enhance customer experience, and support long-term sustainable performance. Working closely with senior leaders and Finance, the team operates across the organisation to shape and deliver initiatives that enable the business to remain competitive in a fast-moving retail landscape. As part of this dynamic and collaborative function, you will contribute to a multi-year transformation agenda delivering meaningful outcomes for both colleagues and customers.
As a Transformation Manager, you will lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from initial discovery and shaping through to delivery handover. You will bring clarity to ambiguous challenges by identifying the right business questions, applying an outcome-driven approach, and developing practical, evidence-based solutions. This includes building robust business cases, establishing governance frameworks, and coordinating matrix teams to deliver change effectively.
On a day-to-day basis, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to identify opportunities, manage risks, and influence key decisions. You may work on initiatives focused on revenue generation, cost optimisation, or the design and delivery of strategic transformation programmes. You will also play an active role in embedding agile ways of working and fostering a culture that supports innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
At Sainsbury's, you will be part of a fast-paced Retail Operations team that acts as the vital link between sellers and buyers, retail and head office. The environment requires agility, collaboration, and a mindset that looks beyond job descriptions to optimise and improve everything we do. There is a strong team ethos and a real opportunity to transform this part of the business.
Experience
- Proven ability to apply strategic, end-to-end thinking using data and insight to develop solutions and deliver measurable business outcomes
- Experience in Supply Chain and Logistics, with knowledge of best practice in warehouse and transport operations
- Successful cross-functional working at scale with strong stakeholder management skills at all levels
- Experience in identifying, scoping, and implementing major change projects and programmes with demonstrable results
- Skilled in using data insight and knowledge of external best practice to drive complex decisions
About you
You bring demonstrable experience delivering strategic, project-based change and are comfortable working in environments where direction and requirements may not be fully defined. You confidently use data, insight, and external perspectives to inform decision-making and distil complex information into clear, actionable recommendations aligned to broader business and customer objectives. You are proactive, curious, resilient, and have a growth mindset. You build credibility quickly and influence effectively at all organisational levels through clear, structured communication. You champion collaborative ways of working and foster an environment where teams are encouraged to think creatively, test ideas, and deliver measurable outcomes.
