About the Role
The Looked After Children Advanced Practitioner plays a crucial role in overseeing the welfare and development of children within the care system. This role supports the Team Manager in implementing and monitoring care strategies, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery to meet the needs of looked-after children. Key responsibilities include deputising for the Team Manager to ensure smooth team operations, supervising up to three staff and guiding their casework, facilitating PSG meetings focusing on serious case reviews and reflective learning, overseeing all leaving care transfers with timely referrals and support for social workers, managing a caseload of up to five cases, organising the duty rota and serving as duty manager, and monitoring supervised staff’s performance with escalation of concerns as needed.

Experience
- Extensive post-qualification social work experience in Children & Families settings
- Experience handling complex casework within statutory children's services
- Experience with prioritisation, care planning, and service delivery
- Proven ability to assess complex risks and make decisions based on evidence and comprehensive analysis

Qualifications
- Relevant social work qualification with continued professional body registration
- Satisfactory employment references and identity checks

- Ability to communicate fluently in spoken English sufficient for effective performance of the role
