We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and committed Band 4 Advanced Therapy / Rehabilitation Assistant to join the cancer rehabilitation team at Guy’s Hospital. This is a static post ideal for someone wishing to develop skills in oncology rehabilitation and work alongside a multidisciplinary oncology team in an inpatient setting.

The role involves assisting the physiotherapy service to deliver rehabilitation to patients with a cancer diagnosis, implementing timely and person-centred assessment and rehabilitation programmes, and supporting the team with administrative tasks. Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills are essential.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience assessing patients in hospital settings requiring treatment programmes, equipment, or adaptations and instructing them in their safe and proper use
- Experience managing own caseload as directed
- Experience in equipment management including monitoring use and maintenance
- Patient treatment experience using relevant clinical skills

Desirable:
- Previous experience as a therapy assistant
- Experience working with cancer patients

About you
- Understanding of the effects of illness, clinical conditions, or disability on function
- Knowledge and experience of a range of manual handling techniques
- Ability to maintain own caseload of patients with complex conditions, demonstrating technical proficiency and prioritising to meet deadlines
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-therapy and multidisciplinary team
- Good IT skills
- Knowledge of the proper and safe use of adaptive or exercise equipment

Qualifications
Essential:
- Completed NVQ Level 4 or equivalent competence demonstrated through significant relevant experience

Desirable:
- Diploma or Degree qualification
