About the Role
Do you have a proven track record of providing expert HR advice across the full employment cycle? Are you keen to build on your experience in a fast-paced function with an ambitious people agenda? We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Business Partnering team, supporting the Integrated & Specialist Medicine Clinical Group. You will be working in a small embedded workforce team and be the key point of contact for managers across the Clinical Group.
You will provide detailed advice and guidance on the interpretation of Trust policies, procedures and employment legislation. Acting as the interface between the People embedded team and the Workforce Relations team, you will analyse workforce data, including staff survey results, to identify trends, hotspots, and risks, and recommend proactive solutions.
Working closely with HR Business Partners, you will develop and deliver training on a range of HR topics to build capability among people managers, including targeted training to support hotspot areas. Using a coaching approach, you will develop management capability and confidence in handling people matters and support local people strategies, workforce planning, and change initiatives.

Main Duties
Develop effective relationships with directorates to influence, challenge and support service delivery and people strategies. Analyse qualitative and quantitative data to identify themes and recommend interventions supporting current and future performance targets. Provide detailed advice and guidance to managers on Trust policies, procedures and employment legislation.
Support and challenge managers in identifying training and development needs related to people management, providing advice on complex HR issues to minimise risk and financial exposure. Work autonomously to determine short- and long-term workforce strategies, responding to unpredictable outcomes and aligning strategies accordingly.
Lead and support change management programmes in conjunction with the People Director and HR Business Partners. Ensure HR services meet the needs of the Clinical Group by utilising specialist HR expertise. Act as a key link between the Clinical Group and HR functions, planning and conducting projects to analyse and respond to workforce needs.
Use a coaching style to ensure managers take responsibility for HR management aspects of their roles. Maintain continuing personal and professional development, staying up-to-date and professionally registered with the CIPD. Ensure equality and diversity underpin all HR services provided.
Experience
- Proven experience providing employee relations advice and support to managers in a large, complex, unionised organisation
- Significant post-registration HR advisory experience in a complex, unionised environment
- Experience coaching and empowering managers
- Experience working with managers to develop and deliver workforce change plans aligned to strategic objectives
- Proven experience leading or supporting organisational change initiatives such as restructures, service redesign, TUPE, and culture change
- Experience analysing workforce data to identify trends and hotspots to inform interventions
- Ideally, experience working within the NHS and knowledge of NHS Agenda for Change terms and conditions

Qualifications
- Graduate calibre or significant relevant experience
- CIPD or equivalent qualification, skills and experience
- Evidence of continued learning and professional development
- Coaching qualification or training is desirable
- Must have appropriate UK professional registration
Knowledge
- Detailed and up-to-date knowledge of employment law with demonstrable experience interpreting and applying the law in relation to terms and conditions
- Ability to interpret and explain terms and conditions to enable managers to resolve issues appropriately
