About the Role
We are seeking a strategic and operational Senior Social Care Manager to step into a newly created Deputy Head of Service role within the Integrated Mental Health Service (IMHS) at Hackney Council. This high-impact leadership position offers the opportunity to drive service redesign and embed anti-racist practice within a dynamic, progressive London borough committed to social justice and equity, including neurodiversity.

As Deputy Head of Service – Mental Health, you will provide operational leadership to embed the new IMHS structure, ensuring high-quality, legally compliant decision-making. You will work closely with health and social care partners, including East London Foundation Trust (ELFT), to deliver integrated pathways such as Initial Response, Longer-term Support, and the AMHP Service.

Your role will balance operational delivery with strategic thinking, leading service redesign in the context of financial challenges while championing a culture of continuous improvement and a strengths-based, anti-racist approach. Experience
- Proven senior management experience in social care, particularly within integrated health and social care environments.
- Strong foundation in social care practice with operational and strategic leadership skills.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act.
