About the Role
The Digital Information and Records Manager role is a key position within the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), responsible for leading the management of digital information throughout its entire lifecycle. This includes ensuring that information is stored in the correct repositories, accessible to the right people at the right time, and disposed of accurately at the end of its retention period. The role supports MoJ staff by providing clear, practical, and expert advice based on policies, legal obligations, and industry standards. Situated within the Information Services Division and specifically the Digital Information & Records Management Team, the post involves managing staff and building capability across the team. The role contributes to the development and maintenance of policies and procedures, oversees core digital repositories such as SharePoint and MoJ’s Digital Archive, and leads digital information review activities including retention checks, cleansing, archiving, and deletion. The job holder will also manage the Information Manager network, work with stakeholders to ensure strong governance controls, and support transformation initiatives to improve how digital information is stored, accessed, and governed across the organisation.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in managing digital information and records throughout their lifecycle is essential. Proven ability to develop and maintain policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and industry standards. Experience in managing teams and building capability is desirable. Familiarity with digital repositories such as SharePoint and digital archives is advantageous. Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to ensure consistent information management standards is important.

Qualifications
There are no specific qualifications mandated for this role; however, relevant professional qualifications in records management, information governance, or related fields would be advantageous. Candidates must be able to pass security and identity checks prior to taking up post.
