About the Role
NT Food & Drink is a unique partnership between the National Theatre, Levy UK&I, and KERB Events, creating a world-class hospitality destination embedded within the heart of the National Theatre’s operations. The venue comprises three iconic theatres housed in a brutalist architectural masterpiece on the banks of the River Thames. As an Events Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of quality and service across the theatre’s event spaces. This floor-based role involves overseeing event operations, supporting Customer Service Advisors (CSAs), and ensuring a world-class hospitality experience for all patrons and guests. You will lead, supervise, motivate, and coordinate CSA teams, manage daily operations, and take responsibility for small events and internal meetings. Your main working location will be within the events spaces, with occasional support across other NT Food & Drink outlets such as The Understudy, Summer Activation, Restaurants & Bars.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize event setup and pack down according to function sheets across the theatre and offsite venues
- Brief and direct CSA teams in roles including bartending, waiting, meet and greet, and cloakroom
- Ensure CSA compliance with Food Safety Standards, Allergen Policies, and Health & Safety regulations
- Independently deliver drop-off style events
- Maintain equipment standards and report faults promptly
- Possess excellent menu and bar product knowledge to advise guests
- Ensure CSA teams are updated on menu specifications for each event
- Act as first point of contact for clients, ensuring professional and efficient service
- Maintain high professionalism when interacting with VIP guests
- Ensure completion of all checklists to a high standard
- Attend training sessions and assist in CSA team development
- Foster a friendly, professional, and punctual work environment
- Support National Theatre’s Net Zero target for 2030
- Promote National Theatre’s values by making a positive impact, collaborating, empowering others, and acting with confidence
- Manage customer feedback and queries effectively
- Work flexibly across different NT Food & Drink outlets as needed
- Manage till and stock operations
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required by management
Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role within a high-volume venue
- Proven leadership of frontline teams in events or hospitality environments
- Knowledge of standard event setups
- Basic knowledge of wines, spirits, and cocktails
