About the Role
Stripe's mission is to increase the GDP of the internet by building powerful and flexible tools for running internet businesses globally. Our International Indirect Tax Advisory team plays a critical role in shaping Stripe’s tax structure as we expand into new markets worldwide. This position reports to the International Indirect Tax Advisory Lead and serves as a global VAT/GST subject matter expert for Stripe’s business and finance teams.
Key responsibilities include managing indirect tax planning and operations, supporting international expansion through advising on new market entries and product launches, and participating in policy matters affecting indirect taxes internationally. You will collaborate closely with indirect tax compliance leads and accounting teams to enhance VAT/GST compliance processes and support the management of indirect tax audits and interactions with tax authorities globally.
Partnering with product and engineering teams, you will help define tax requirements and contribute to designing tax solutions for Stripe’s users. Additionally, you will drive indirect tax awareness across the organization by providing training and clear communication on changes to legislation, systems, policies, and processes. The role requires the ability to communicate complex indirect tax concepts clearly and accessibly to non-tax professionals at all levels.
Experience
- 4–6 years of relevant indirect tax experience with strong knowledge of VAT/GST laws and regulations
- Previous in-house experience within a multinational business combined with legal or accountancy firm experience
- Experience with indirect taxes related to digital services and physical product distribution
- Accounting experience and proficiency with ERP systems and data analytics tools
- Project management experience with a detail-oriented approach and ownership of complex work

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and a professional qualification in tax or law (e.g. CTA, ACA, AITI, ATT, or equivalent)
Preferred qualifications
- An advanced degree (e.g. LLM in Tax, MSc in Accounting)
- Experience in technology, payments, or financial services
- Experience in a high-growth or rapidly scaling environment
- A genuine enthusiasm for working with a curious, close-knit team of tax professionals who care deeply about Stripe's tax challenges and each other
