About the Role
Join the London Borough of Hackney as a Leasehold Income Officer on a 12-month fixed term contract or secondment opportunity. In this role, you will be a key member of the Leasehold Income Team responsible for the effective recovery of service charges and other invoiced sums including major works, shared ownership, ground rent, and reserve funds. Your primary focus will be to ensure timely collection of owed sums, reduce arrears, and maximise income for the Council.
You will assess cases to determine the most appropriate course of action, whether pursuing legal routes or facilitating settlements, while providing high-quality housing management services that meet customer needs. Key duties include liaising with legal services, solicitors, and financial institutions to resolve complex queries, preparing documentation for legal actions, maintaining accurate records on electronic databases, and responding promptly to income collection inquiries.
This role also involves attending resident meetings, advising on payment options, and identifying support for vulnerable residents. Your work will contribute to promoting a culture of customer care and continuous improvement within Hackney Council, an organisation committed to serving its residents with pride and inclusivity.
Experience
Proven experience in debt recovery within a housing environment is essential. Strong understanding of relevant legislation related to leasehold income and debt collection is required.

You must be able to manage your workload efficiently, work to tight deadlines, and demonstrate a proactive and inclusive approach.
