About the Role
The Maintenance Technician will play a key role in delivering an exceptional resident experience by working alongside the Community and Estates Management teams. Responsibilities include carrying out repairs, maintenance tasks, planned and unplanned works, and ensuring statutory compliance of building fabric and mechanical and electrical systems. The role involves inspecting and diagnosing faults, undertaking minor repairs and decoration to buildings, grounds, and equipment, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety throughout the community.
Key duties include effective communication with residents, clients, contractors, and colleagues; managing maintenance tasks via the electronic reporting system; maintaining property maintenance records; ensuring budget and resource compliance; managing stock and supplies; performing repairs in plumbing, joinery, carpentry, painting, decorating, and lighting; coordinating contractors; monitoring health and safety; conducting statutory testing and inspections; supervising grounds maintenance; and assisting with security and risk assessments.
The role requires a proactive approach to problem solving, excellent organisation skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Experience
- Experience undertaking repairs and maintenance in a domestic residential environment or general building/residential construction trades such as plumbing, electrical, or carpentry.
- Experience installing and maintaining hot and cold water systems, sanitary appliances, soil and waste drainage.
- Experience installing and maintaining electrical systems, fire alarms, emergency lighting, and security systems.
- Contractor and supplier supervision skills are desirable.

Qualifications
- Reasonable level of general education, educated to O’ Level / GCSE or equivalent with demonstrable written and numerical skills.
- Awareness of health and safety requirements on site.
- Recognised trade qualification such as Building Crafts Operative Certificate, City and Guilds, or NVQ relevant to repairs and maintenance in residential buildings (e.g. plumbing or electrical) is essential.
