About the Role
The Maintenance Technician will play a key role in delivering an exceptional resident experience by working closely with the Community and Estates Management teams. This role involves carrying out repairs, maintenance tasks, planned and unplanned works, and ensuring statutory compliance of building fabric and mechanical and electrical systems. Responsibilities include inspecting and diagnosing faults, performing minor repairs and decoration to buildings, grounds, and equipment, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the community. The role requires effective communication with residents, clients, contractors, and colleagues, managing maintenance records and reporting systems, and ensuring all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard. The Maintenance Technician will also coordinate and supervise external contractors, manage statutory testing records, carry out PAT testing, emergency lighting inspections, fire alarm tests, and fire evacuations. Additionally, the role involves maintaining gardens and grounds, practicing safety techniques, being available for out-of-hours emergency call-outs, reviewing site risk assessments, and seeking to maximize utility efficiency.

Requirements

Experience
Experience undertaking repairs and maintenance in a domestic residential environment or as a general builder/residential construction in trades such as plumbing, electrical, or carpentry. Experience installing and maintaining hot and cold water systems, sanitary appliances, soil and waste drainage, electrical systems, fire alarm, emergency lighting, and security systems.

Good team player with strong relationship-building and influencing skills. Positive approach with the ability to work on own initiative. Ability to determine cost-effective solutions to repairs. Contractor and supplier supervision skills are desirable. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize. Flexible and adaptable to thrive in a changing environment.

Qualifications
A reasonable level of general education (O’ Level / GCSE or equivalent) with demonstrable written and numerical skills. Awareness of health and safety requirements on site. A recognised trade qualification such as Building Crafts Operative Certificate, City and Guilds, or NVQ relevant to repairs and maintenance in residential buildings (e.g., plumbing or electrical) is essential. Commitment to continually improve knowledge, skills, and abilities to produce the best results.
