About the Role
As a Materials Engineer at Costain Group, you will coordinate and support materials compliance, testing, trials and technical documentation activities across the project. You will ensure that all materials used on site comply with specification, approval requirements and construction programme needs. Your responsibilities will include managing Materials Compliance Requests (MCRs) in coordination with site teams, maintaining and updating plant and materials schedules and compliance trackers, and managing critical materials registers such as concrete mix design registers and technical datasheets. Additionally, you will manage interfaces between site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and testing laboratories, attend construction and quality meetings as the materials representative, and support pre-pour and post-pour inspections. You will also prepare thermal control plans for mass concrete pours, including installation planning for thermocouples, temperature data collection, analysis and reporting. Supporting the preparation of material-related RFIs, technical submissions, project records, and assisting in material compliance management within handover documentation and quality assurance packs will be key parts of your role.
