About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful hospital trusts, providing a wide range of specialist and community healthcare services. This exciting opportunity as a MEMS Helpdesk Administrator offers a key role supporting medical technology within a large central London teaching hospital. You will provide high quality administrative support to the Medical Equipment Management Services (MEMS) department, which is responsible for repair, calibration, and maintenance of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment across multiple sites.

The role involves a variety of administrative tasks including typing and formatting letters, reports, policies, and presentations; reception duties; customer service; maintaining databases; booking appointments and meeting rooms; filing; and general departmental support. You will often be the first point of contact for the department and will be expected to communicate professionally and courteously.

Key responsibilities include logging incoming equipment and requests, updating and maintaining the Trust Medical Equipment Database, assisting with contract and maintenance records, supporting technical staff, managing stock levels of components and spares, and contributing to quality system management. You will also participate in regular management meetings and support the department’s smooth operation in line with Trust policies and quality standards.

Requirements

Experience
- Practitioner experience in administrative and clerical work.
- Experience working in a Helpdesk environment is essential.
- Experience in NHS administration is desirable.

- Strong customer service skills with a professional and courteous communication style.
- Willingness to work flexibly outside conventional hours when required.
- Genuine affinity with the Trust’s values, putting patients first.
- High standards of spoken and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Some understanding of the modern healthcare environment is advantageous.

Qualifications
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification including Maths, English, and a science subject, or equivalent supervised experience.
- GCSE A-C grade in Maths and English or equivalent.
- Some knowledge of medical device operation, medical techniques, and scientific terminology is desirable.
- Ability to handle sensitive information in line with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
