Monday to Friday on a rota basis covering 08:00 - 18:00 hours with a 1 in 5 weekend requirement (weekend shifts 08:00 - 16:00). Weekend work is mandatory as part of the department’s service rota.

About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services across south London and beyond. We are seeking two enthusiastic and motivated Patient Access Coordinators (one fixed term 12 months and one permanent) to support the management of the Assisted Conception Unit (ACU) outpatient service based at Guy’s Hospital.
As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will be a key point of contact for patients, clinicians, and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the outpatient service and delivering high-quality patient care. This varied and rewarding administrative role involves working closely with nursing staff, clinical nurse specialists, and consultants to provide a seamless and positive experience for patients.
The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a proactive, personable approach. Previous experience in healthcare or outpatient settings is advantageous. Main duties include providing reception cover, handling patient enquiries in person and via telephone, managing appointment bookings, supporting clinics, processing medical records, and assisting with service improvements in collaboration with the management team.
Experience
- Proven experience in an administrative role demonstrating competent data collection and data quality.
- Experience handling confidential documents and information.
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment, able to manage difficult customers and challenging situations.
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Desirable: Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in an NHS administrative role.

- Clear and sensitive communication in writing, face-to-face, and on the phone.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications
- Good general education with English and Maths to GCSE standard or equivalent.
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Desirable: IT qualification such as European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) and customer service training or qualification.
