Monday to Friday on a rota basis covering 08:00 - 18:00 hours with a 1 in 5 weekend requirement (weekend shifts 08:00 - 16:00). Weekend work is mandatory as part of the department’s service rota.

About the Role

The Patient Access Coordinator role is based within the Assisted Conception Unit (ACU) outpatient service at Guy’s Hospital, a nationally recognised centre of excellence for reproductive medicine.

As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will be a key point of contact for patients, clinicians, and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the outpatient service and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care. This varied and rewarding administrative role involves close collaboration with nursing staff, clinical nurse specialists, and consultants to provide a seamless and positive patient experience.

The role requires a proactive and personable individual with strong organisational and communication skills, comfortable managing multiple priorities and working collaboratively. Previous experience in healthcare or outpatient settings is advantageous. You will join a supportive and friendly team committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care, with opportunities for training and professional development.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience in an administrative role demonstrating competent data collection and data quality.
- Experience handling confidential documents and information.
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment, able to manage difficult customers and challenging situations.
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Desirable: Knowledge of medical terminology and experience within NHS administrative roles.

About you
- Excellent communication skills, able to relate to diverse professional staff and the public.
- Clear and sensitive communication in writing, face-to-face, and by phone.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload efficiently and accurately.
- Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
- Team player with good working relationships at all levels.
- Understanding of confidentiality, equal opportunities, and their application in the workplace.
- Flexible approach to work according to priorities and organisational changes.

Qualifications
- Good general education with English and Maths to GCSE standard or equivalent.
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Desirable: IT qualifications such as European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) and customer service training or qualification.
