About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Nuclear Medicine Department at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust as a Patient Access Coordinator. This permanent Band 3 role involves providing comprehensive administrative and clerical support within a growing Nuclear Medicine Service. You will be the first point of contact for patients and service users, managing outpatient appointment scheduling, handling patient queries, and working closely with clinical and specialty management teams to ensure timely and appropriate patient care pathways. The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and the capacity to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of customer care.

The Nuclear Medicine Department is highly specialised, providing services such as thyroid clinics, general nuclear medicine, inpatient facilities, and osteoporosis screening. The department is internationally recognised for its research and development and generates significant external income through its radio-pharmaceutical dispensary.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment, demonstrating the ability to manage difficult customers and challenging situations
- Experience working both autonomously and as part of a team

About you
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and work methodically, efficiently, and accurately to meet tight deadlines
- Strong communication skills, able to relate to a diverse group of professional staff and the public, communicate clearly in writing, face to face and on the phone, convey sensitive information appropriately, and provide non-clinical advice to patients tactfully
- Ability to multi-task, use initiative, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a busy environment
- Understanding of equal opportunities and confidentiality principles and their application in the workplace
- Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Qualifications
- Good general education with English and Maths to GCSE standard or equivalent
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience
- Customer service qualification or training is desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in an NHS administrative role are desirable
- Knowledge of key waiting times targets (including 18 weeks, DM01) and Trust hospital systems (e.g. EPIC) is advantageous
