About the Role
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is seeking motivated People Analysts to join the People Analytics and Information (PA&I) team within the Business Architecture & Transformation Directorate. The PA&I team plays a crucial role in enabling evidence-based decision-making by transforming complex workforce data into clear, timely, and actionable insights. This multidisciplinary team combines expertise in analytics, data engineering, information governance, and digital design to deliver trusted and impactful people analysis across the Ministry of Justice.

There are two roles available: one supporting operational and management information for Prison and Probation recruitment, and another focused on applying advanced analytical techniques to support strategic people-focused decision-making. Both roles require agility to respond to changing priorities within the team.

Key responsibilities include using statistical and analytical coding techniques to deliver user-focused solutions, managing the delivery of HR data products and insights, streamlining and automating processes, developing high-quality analytical practices, assuring methodological soundness and compliance, and communicating data findings clearly using innovative visualisation techniques.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience applying statistical analysis techniques and interpreting data to identify trends and correlations.
- Strong data manipulation and analytical skills, with the ability to derive insights from multiple data sources.
- Experience communicating insights effectively to a range of stakeholders.
- Experience using SQL and R for data analysis.
- Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
- Experience working collaboratively within teams and independently using initiative.

About You

- Comfortable explaining complex analytical techniques clearly and succinctly.
- Willingness to work towards professional badging within Government analytical disciplines is desirable.
- Experience or exposure to working with personal and sensitive data, including compliance with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, is advantageous.
- Experience working within an HR environment and conducting statistical analysis on people-related data is desirable.

Qualifications
- A numerate, analytical or STEM degree (2:2 or above) or a degree with a significant analytical, statistical or research component (at least 40% statistical/analytical content), or equivalent experience.
- Alternatively, significant relevant work experience (usually a minimum of three years) demonstrating use of data and analytical skills.
- Evidence of qualifications and relevant experience should be provided.
