We are dedicated to creating a more equal Camden by fostering an environment where all individuals can reach their full potential and enjoy a high quality of life regardless of background.
Local authorities face significant challenges from fraud risks. Camden applies a robust approach to protect public funds, embedding an anti-fraud culture through its Anti-Fraud and Corruption Strategy and Whistleblowing Policy. We are recruiting a full-time, permanent Principal Investigator to join the Anti-Fraud and Investigations Team (AFIT), a high-performing and well-respected service that supports the Council’s strategic direction by delivering a comprehensive corporate anti-fraud service.
This role involves conducting proactive and reactive corporate investigations across various Council services. You will work closely with colleagues from Internal Audit, Risk Management, and external agencies, including the police and the Department of Work and Pensions’ Counter-Fraud and Compliance Directorate. AFIT is part of the London Boroughs’ Fraud Investigation Group, providing valuable networking and intelligence-sharing opportunities.
This is a high-profile and varied role requiring excellent investigative skills, the ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously, and strong interpersonal skills to promote a proactive anti-fraud culture across the Council. You will also deliver fraud awareness workshops and produce high-quality investigation reports while maintaining confidentiality.
In return, Camden offers a competitive salary, a stimulating and supportive work environment, a local government pension scheme, flexible working arrangements, and an enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

Experience working in a private or public sector investigation service is preferred. Proven track record of conducting high-quality investigations, including interviews and collaboration with police and other external investigative agencies. About you
