About the Role
As a Senior Accountant within the M&A team at Salesforce, you will play a critical role in the technical accounting analysis, financial pre-close integration, and post-close integration related to the Company's acquisition strategy. This position partners closely with Corporate Development, Finance, Legal, Tax, Employee Success, and Operations teams to evaluate potential transactions, assess accounting implications, prepare technical documentation, and ensure accurate and timely reporting of acquired entities.
You will perform technical accounting research and prepare documentation related to business combinations, asset acquisitions, equity transactions, and fair value measurements. Responsibilities include supporting purchase price allocations, goodwill and intangible asset assessments, and preparing opening balance sheets with ERP mapping and posting. You will analyze accounting topics such as stock-based compensation, foreign currency translation, consolidation, and statutory reporting across jurisdictions.
In addition, you will prepare audit-ready memos, schedules, and supporting materials, assist with internal and external audit requests, and provide US GAAP to Statutory adjustment guidance to local teams. Ensuring compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, SEC rules, and internal policies is essential.
You will participate in financial accounting preparation meetings to identify risks, integration challenges, and potential adjustments, assist in evaluating historical financial statements and quality of earnings, and provide accounting input into deal structuring and purchase term agreements.
Leading or supporting accounting workstream integration tasks will be a key part of your role, including system alignment, chart of accounts mapping, close process integration, and policy harmonization. You will record opening balance sheets with fair value adjustments and partner with cross-functional teams to develop and execute integration plans, identifying risks and required resources.
Additionally, you will establish scalable processes and internal controls for newly acquired businesses across Finance functions such as Accounting, Payroll, Tax, Equity, and Real Estate. You will also execute rationalization of domestic and international legal entities, including mergers, business transfer agreements, and liquidations.
As a resource to corporate and regional finance teams, you will communicate technical accounting topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement of M&A accounting practices, templates, and processes.
