Based within the Climate, Homes and Economy Directorate, our Streetscene Service ensures Hackney is clean, safe and accessible for residents, businesses and visitors. The Streetscene team is responsible for the design and maintenance of all highway networks, footways, bridges and lighting on all public roads, contributing to the wellbeing of our community and creating a sustainable public realm. We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our team to help deliver effective Capital and Revenue investment programmes to our local community. He or she will have experience working as part of a team developing concepts, feasibility, preliminary, initial design, consultation, detailed design, and ultimately implementation for multi-modal or mode-specific traffic engineering schemes, urban realm, and public transport improvements. The roles will suit motivated individuals looking to advance their careers in a dynamic team. Applicants will have post-qualification experience in Civil Engineering and/or significant experience in Traffic Management, Road Safety Engineering, urban Realm, and Public Transport improvement schemes. They will have excellent written and communication skills as well as good time and budgetary management skills. Qualification and membership of, or eligibility for membership of, a relevant professional body is desirable. You will be responsible for conducting consultations, site inspections, and supervisions. You will also be required to communicate with external and internal stakeholders. On occasion, you will make presentations at public forums within a diverse community and communicate with Council Members, colleagues, and other stakeholders, so the ability to communicate effectively is imperative. The ability to plan, monitor, and manage complex projects and programmes is essential, and you will be ICT-savvy, ready to develop your own skills and those of others. You must be available to attend meetings outside normal working hours. Additionally, you will work as part of a team, assisting Senior Traffic Engineers in developing concepts, feasibility studies, and preliminary and detailed designs, as well as implementing multi-modal or mode-specific traffic engineering schemes, urban realm, and public transport improvements.
