About the Role
The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. The scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds. This role will work on the HS2 project, the UK’s new high speed rail network designed to stimulate economic growth across Britain by freeing up space on existing railways and connecting 8 of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services.

The Senior Planner will assist the Planning Manager in developing and monitoring the programme, ensuring compliance with SCS planning standards and HS2 requirements to deliver a safe, efficient and cost-effective programme that meets all required access dates, milestones and key dates. Reporting directly to the Planning Manager, the role involves close collaboration with multiple teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in development of the programme structure, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), calendars and dates aligned with Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) and Employer’s data dictionary.
- Support development of cost and resource loaded programmes during ECI Stage One and Two, ensuring submission meets delivery milestones.
- Ensure programme compliance with Employer’s Planning requirements, contract data and works information.
- Contribute to programme risk assessment and analysis, including mitigation measures.
- Interface with BIM, design, estimation, construction and other teams to provide planning data.
- Work with BIM team to integrate construction programme and BIM model.
- Monitor progress and regularly update the programme, forecasting potential issues and proposing mitigation.
- Cooperate with Project Controls Manager, Reporting Manager and Change Management on construction programme matters.
- Liaise with client’s construction planning team and other works packages to share best practice and continuous improvement.
- Pursue excellence and continuous improvement of SCS construction planning processes.
- Assess changes and PMIs and communicate impacts.
- Review and assess supply chain programmes and integrate into main programme.
- Maintain short and medium term programmes to meet main programme objectives.

Requirements

Experience
- Prior experience in a planning function within civil engineering projects.
- Background in Heavy Civils projects.
- Knowledge of asset structures, planning standards, WBS and planning processes.
- Competence in Primavera P6 and Tilos.
- Understanding of Safety, Environment and Risk Management.

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or an appropriate professional qualification.
