About the Borough
The London Borough of Sutton is located less than 30 minutes by train from Central London, with direct connections to London Victoria and London Bridge. Situated in zone 5, Sutton offers excellent transport links, award-winning parks and open spaces, low crime rates, affordable housing, and great schools. The borough enjoys high levels of resident engagement and satisfaction, delivering quality services while addressing financial challenges and involving residents in key issues and local developments.

About the Borough (continued)
Sutton is investing continuously in the health, wellbeing, and education of its residents and future generations, as outlined in the “Ambitious for Sutton” corporate plan. Home to the Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research, Sutton is developing the London Cancer Hub, aiming to be the world’s leading life-science district specialising in cancer research and treatment. This vision is expected to create around 13,000 jobs and contribute £1.2bn annually to the UK economy. Alongside regeneration projects including new homes and schools, Sutton is committed to supporting vulnerable groups to maintain independence and balance support with independent living.

About the Council
The Council is a key driver within the South London Partnership, collaborating with four other outer south west London boroughs on strategic growth, regeneration, and investment. Sutton aims to shape the borough’s future to meet residents’ needs and make it a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

About the Service and Team
Sutton’s Children’s First Contact Service (CFCS) acts as a single point of contact for all early help and children’s social care services, supporting children through identification of need and child protection matters. The service ensures consistent and efficient responses to referrals, coordinating incoming cases and directing them according to Pan London’s threshold matrix.

About the Role
Reporting to the Service Manager and Head of Service, the Team Manager will oversee the day-to-day running of the CFCS/MASH service. You will provide leadership and management oversight to Social Workers and supporting staff, ensuring children remain central to all recommendations and decisions. Key responsibilities include managing a team of Social Workers, ensuring compliance with practice standards, legal frameworks, and policies; collaborating with partners across health, education, and the voluntary sector to develop joint plans supporting young people; and equipping your team with the necessary knowledge, skills, and support to perform effectively.

Our Offer to You
We are committed to nurturing talent and supporting your career development in a friendly, collaborative environment. Your ideas and contributions will be encouraged and supported by a dynamic management team. Benefits include generous annual leave (26-32 days plus bank holidays, pro-rata for part-time), enhanced family leave options, two volunteering days per year, flexible and agile working arrangements, access to a learning and development portal, discounts at local shops and leisure facilities, interest-free season ticket loans, Local Government Pension Scheme, bicycle loan and cycle to work schemes, electric vehicle leasing, and confidential health, wellbeing, and counselling support.

Application Process
Please apply online, outlining your skills, abilities, and experience relevant to this role. Ensure your CV details are correctly uploaded. We value authenticity and expect personalised responses demonstrating your motivation and alignment with our PRIDE values. Applications using AI-generated content without personalisation may be rejected. We promote transparency throughout the recruitment process, which will be further assessed at interview and selection stages.

Diversity and Inclusion
We are proud to be a diverse and welcoming borough, committed to reflecting the community we serve. We encourage applications from underrepresented groups and offer family-friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working, staff engagement forums, and inclusive networks. As a Disability Confident employer, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants meeting the minimum criteria. We are an accredited London Living Wage employer, ensuring all employees receive the London Living Wage regardless of contract type or length.
