About the Role
The Ministry of Justice Property Directorate manages one of the most diverse and complex estates in Government, including prisons, probation services, Ministry of Justice headquarters, and Arm’s Length Bodies. As an Area Property Operations Manager (APOM), you will play a key role in delivering high-quality facilities management services across a varied portfolio within the East Midlands. This fixed-term role (17 months) offers a unique and challenging opportunity to work within an award-winning Property Services team that collaborates closely with customers and suppliers to provide both hard and soft FM services.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing contracts, overseeing service delivery, ensuring statutory compliance, and maintaining strong client and supplier relationships. You will conduct regular site visits, manage projects and works, and contribute to operational strategies that support efficient and effective property management. The role requires excellent leadership, resilience, customer engagement skills, and the ability to deliver at pace.

The position involves regular travel across the East Midlands to various sites and requires a full UK driving licence. You will be part of the Government Property Profession and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the property management function.

Requirements

Experience
- Strong background in property and facilities management disciplines
- Proven compliance with statutory, regulatory, and professional requirements
- Experience in commercial and financial management
- People management skills including mentoring, motivating, and developing teams
- Asset management, maintenance, contract and supplier management
- Managing complex customer relationships and stakeholder engagement
- Managing multi-project programmes of maintenance or capital investment

Qualifications
- Hold or be willing to work towards MIWFM or CIWFM, MRICS, or CEng accreditation
- IWFM qualification at Level 3-4 or equivalent experience
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Commercial training including National Engineering and Construction Contracts (NEC) and understanding of TFM contracts
- Technical compliance training such as L8, HV/LV, Asbestos, Legionella, Fire Safety & CPFSI, and Construction Design Management awareness
- Full UK Driving Licence is essential due to travel requirements

Support and funding will be provided to achieve required qualifications within six months of appointment, with ongoing training to maintain statutory and professional standards.
