About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Relief Bank Support Mentor to join our team based in RBKC. You will support residents with multiple and complex needs, including mental health, substance use, homelessness, and offending backgrounds. Your role will involve providing person-centred support to help residents overcome personal barriers and achieve their goals. Working within a residential setting, you will create a safe and comfortable environment that residents can call home during their time with the service.

Key responsibilities include:
- Creating tailored support plans through one-to-one sessions, group sessions, and multi-agency meetings
- Supporting residents to achieve their desired goals and outcomes
- Empowering residents to make decisions and take control of their lives by fostering an enabling environment
- Encouraging independence and progress through engaging activities such as movie nights, arts and crafts, brunch club, and fully funded day trips
- Monitoring residents’ wellbeing with regular welfare checks and responding to incidents or emergencies
- Collaborating closely with the team to ensure excellent service delivery, including supporting caseloads and other tasks as needed
- Keeping support plans updated on online portals
- Recognising signs of deteriorating mental or physical health and initiating appropriate interventions to prevent crises or risks

Requirements

Experience
- Experience working with people from complex backgrounds and/or a good understanding of the sector, particularly relating to multiple and complex needs

About you
- A genuine passion for supporting individuals with multiple and complex needs including homelessness, mental health, and substance use
- Ability to build rapport and trusting relationships in a professional setting
- Adaptable and flexible approach to support, recognising that individuals have different levels and types of needs
- Empathy and compassion towards residents and the challenges they face
- Intermediate IT skills with ability to use and adapt to Microsoft and other software programs
- Willingness to work flexible hours responding to the needs of the service and residents
- Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based support, working effectively in partnership with stakeholders
- Understanding of social marginalisation and the diverse needs of people with multiple and complex challenges
