Hours
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday between 21:00 - 09:00 on a 6 week rolling rota which includes at least one day shift per week, weekends, and bank holidays.

About the Role
We are seeking a Night Support Mentor to join our team supporting long-term street homeless residents who face significant challenges including mental health issues, substance use, and alcohol dependency. This role involves providing person-centred, tailored support to help residents overcome personal challenges and achieve their goals through creating support plans, activities, and partnership working. You will ensure a safe, respectful, and responsive environment during the night, remaining awake, alert, and actively engaged throughout your shift. Key duties include welfare checks, resident support, administration tasks, and preparing clear handovers for day staff and managers.
You will help maintain a trauma-informed and psychologically informed environment that prioritises the wellbeing of residents and staff. Key Responsibilities
- Support residents through tailored one-to-one and group sessions, activities, and wellbeing check-ins.
- Collaborate with day teams and residents to create tailored support plans.
- Monitor residents’ wellbeing with regular welfare checks and respond to incidents or emergencies.
- Complete routine night duties and tasks handed over by day shift or service manager.
- Prepare regular handovers for day staff.
- Plan evening activities to engage residents with community opportunities such as movie or games nights.
- Be a reliable team member ensuring seamless service through effective handovers.
Experience
- Previous professional or lived experience supporting people with mental health, substance use, and alcohol dependency.
- Ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds, build rapport, and empower them to achieve personal goals.

- Compassionate and empathetic with an understanding of the challenges faced by people with multiple and complex needs.
- Adaptable, proactive, and confident in using your initiative to resolve challenges and maintain smooth night service operations.
- Self-motivated, able to stay engaged and manage your own time effectively during busy or quiet periods.

- Intermediate IT skills including Microsoft Office and other software programs.
