Location
Southwood Gardens, Ilford. The service is a short walk from Gants Hill Underground Station and served by multiple bus routes including 114, 121, 128, 150, and 272, offering direct local and regional connections. Please note the service does not have step-free access.
Hours
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, 20:30 - 08:30. You may be required to work outside these hours as per service and resident needs, including weekends and bank holidays as part of your rota.

About the Role
We are seeking a Night Engagement Worker to join our team in Redbridge, supporting residents within the Offender Personality Disorder Housing Accommodation. This specialist service supports people in the criminal justice system who are high risk and likely to meet criteria for personality disorder. The Penrose OPD HASS service provides intensive support to help residents overcome barriers to resettlement and progress towards independent living.
You will assist individuals recently released from prison, secure health settings, or transitioning from Approved Premises. Your role includes supporting key engagement activities, aiding rehabilitation, reablement, and reintegration by providing pathways, support, and appropriate interventions. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve positive outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting residents facing challenges such as substance misuse and helping them take positive steps forward
- Creating one-to-one person-centred support plans to help residents achieve their goals
- Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents during shifts through regular check-ins and adherence to protocols
- Planning evening activities to engage residents with communities and opportunities, such as movie and games nights
- Lone working with the support of a wider team
- Completing handovers for day colleagues to ensure seamless service delivery
Experience
- Understanding of Personality Disorder and the Criminal Justice System
- Experience working with people from diverse and complex backgrounds
- Ability to engage, build rapport, and empower individuals to achieve personal goals
- Comfortable supporting people with histories of behaviours leading to in-prison sentencing
- Awareness of external opportunities such as education, employment, and benefits
- Proactive and organised in managing welfare checks, safeguarding, and accurate record keeping
- IT proficiency including basic Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software
