About the Role
We are seeking a Complex Needs Recovery Worker to join our team at Penrose Focus. You will support residents with a history of forensic mental health issues and co-morbid substance misuse disorders. Residents vary from high risk to low support, and your role is to provide tailored, person-centred support to help them reintegrate into the community.

Key responsibilities include supporting residents with forensic mental health and substance misuse recovery, assisting with practical needs such as benefits applications and medical appointments, creating and delivering tailored support plans through one-to-one and group sessions, and participating in multi-agency meetings.

You will monitor residents’ wellbeing, conduct welfare checks, respond to incidents, and build trusting relationships in a safe, non-judgmental environment. You will also support residents in accessing healthcare services, liaise with mental health professionals, and work closely with police and probation officers to ensure legal and rehabilitation requirements are met.

This role requires creating an empowering environment where individuals are supported to make informed decisions and take control of their lives. Join us in our mission to empower independence through trauma-informed solutions and dynamic partnerships that keep people out of prison, out of hospital, and off the streets.

Requirements

Experience
- Previous professional or lived experience supporting people with forensic mental health and complex needs, ideally in mental health and residential settings.
- Experience working with people with complex backgrounds including ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, or challenging behaviour.
- Understanding of housing and social needs.
- Ability to engage with diverse individuals, build rapport, and empower them to achieve personal goals.
- Ability to use and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft Office and other software.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours responding to service and resident needs.
- Experience promoting services and providing outreach, working effectively in partnership with stakeholders.

About You
You will have a genuine passion for supporting people with complex needs, including forensic mental health. You are self-motivated, proactive in managing your time, and able to work collaboratively within a team. You demonstrate empathy, compassion, and creativity in overcoming challenges faced by residents. You align with our values of Ambition, Empowerment, Inclusivity, and Transparency.

You are keen to support residents to achieve their individual goals and become the best versions of themselves.
