Salary
£28,000 - £37,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. You will also receive a London Weighting allowance of £5,441. The expected salary range reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

About the Role
As part of a collaborative team, you will originate and produce a diverse range of news and current affairs content for BBC platforms. This role demands creativity, editorial judgment, and a commitment to delivering accurate, engaging stories that inform and inspire audiences. You will contribute to shaping output that reflects the BBC’s values, ensuring content is relevant, timely, and meets the highest standards of journalism.

BBC Kyrgyz, established in 1996, delivers contemporary multimedia content to Kyrgyz-speaking audiences worldwide. Your key responsibilities include researching, writing, translating, editing, and adapting original content in Kyrgyz for TV, website, and social media platforms; presenting programmes and digital content; moderating live streams; conducting interviews in Kyrgyz and English; creating engaging storytelling for digital and social platforms; using mobile filming, production, and editing tools; and collaborating with colleagues and contributors to produce analytical pieces on Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia.

Experience
Proven experience in digital journalism and social media, with awareness of emerging trends and challenges. Strong knowledge of Kyrgyz, Central Asian, and international affairs. Experience producing content for diverse audiences, especially women and young people.

Full command of spoken and written Kyrgyz (first or equivalent language) and advanced English, with the ability to communicate effectively in both. Creativity to make content relevant and engaging. Commitment to delivering high-quality journalism with accuracy, impartiality, and editorial integrity. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
Relevant journalism or media qualifications are desirable but not essential. Transferable skills and a passion for journalism are highly valued.
