About the Role
We are recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Wastewater Division at the Riverside STW site. In this role, you will use your mechanical and electrical expertise to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision. Your work will ensure our sites remain operational, helping to reduce pollution and improve Thames Water's environmental impact.

You will carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment following company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns. Investigating plant failures and performing repairs quickly and effectively to avoid process interruptions will be a key responsibility. This may involve diagnosing complex faults and repairing equipment during incidents.

You will provide technical advice, use up-to-date technical knowledge, and may support or train technical trainees. Equipment you will work on includes pumps and control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, and chemical handling and dosing equipment.

You will also participate in a standby rota after completing the relevant training. All necessary PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.

Experience
Time-served electrical apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems, ideally upskilled with mechanical qualifications (NVQ2/3) to work safely and efficiently on mechanical and electrical plant equipment. Experience working in a multi-skilled capacity is essential. Candidates with either mechanical or electrical experience only will be considered for development to dual-skilled status.

About you
Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial. You must be physically fit to work in confined spaces after completing appropriate training. A valid driving licence is essential. You should be reliable, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications
Electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, with mechanical NVQ2/3 upskill highly desirable.
